EMBELLISHMENT COMMITTEE

The Embellishment Committee was formed in 1991 after the Stanbridge East Centennial Year.

Mission Statement

To promote and encourage the enhancement of public and private properties in the municipality and along the river banks.

To receive donations, bequests and other contributions of a similar nature in the form of cash, securities or real estate; to administer such donations, bequests and contributions; to organize fund-raising events in order to have the means to achieve the previous objective.

Meetings and Officers

The Embellishment Committee meet on the first Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. of each month from April to November at the Town Hall. Elections of officers are held every year at the April meeting.

On April, 2022 the elections were held with the following results:

  • President - Lesley Jenkins
  • 1st Vice-President - Germain Pinard
  • 2nd Vice-President - Robert Deschamps
  • Treasurer - Geraldine Jourdenais

The other members of the committee consist of:
Norman Jourdenais, Astrid Decroix, Marcus Flynn and Rose Lawlor (town councillor responsible for Embellishment portfolio).

Events

most beautiful village landscape

During the month of May (May 21st, 2022), the first event is the Annual Sale of Plants followed by the Planting Day (May 28th, 2022), when flowers are planted in the beds at key buildings around town.

At the beginning of July a team of judges will tour the village and surrounding country-side judging the properties and landscapes.

A wine and cheese reception is held in August, to honour the winners of the summer judging.

The Embellishment Committee relies on volunteers and is always in need of additional volunteers in order to continue on with their worthwhile work.
